Bamboo nodes
Bamboo nodes
Vocal disorders caused by "rheumatoid nodules" on the vocal folds (also known as bamboo nodes or bamboo nodules) are thickened areas in the vibrating part of the vocal folds. They are located beneath the epithelial layer and are oriented transversely to the axis of the vocal folds. They can be found in multiple areas and may occur bilaterally.
Cause:
These vocal fold nodules are changes that are often associated with an autoimmune disease and can manifest as its initial symptom.
Treatment:
In addition to treating the underlying condition, local injection of cortisone under local anesthesia or surgical removal is recommended.
Before the treatment
After the treatment, only the right vocal fold (arrow) was treated
